Music is a very important part of everyday life to people all over the world. Whether you live in a big, successful city, on a small aspiring farm, or anywhere in between, music has impacted your life in one way or another. We listen to music alone and in huge crowds at concerts. Music affects our religion and our social and educational lives. Why do we choose to listen to music? Does it relax you, invigorate you, or put you in a particular mood? Music defines who we are. It’s a part of almost everything we do. The music industry in the United States is the biggest music industry in the world, and technology has helped it grow even more. Musicians not only use their talent to express their feelings--sometimes they use it to help other people. We wanted to examine the positive impact of rock ‘n roll on our society. Aid Concerts slideshow explains how much musicians help people of the world. For our CyberFair project, we created the opportunity for students in the area to learn how to play an instrument, especially those students that couldn’t afford lessons. We hosted two fundraisers to help local aspiring musicians receive free lessons from Music Makers: a Guitar Hero III Showdown (a video game guitar-playing competition) and a Christian music rock concert by a local band, Parallax View. We raised more than enough to provide 100 free lessons to area students. Vist Fundraisers to learn more, as well as this article: Newspaper Chuck Berry laid the foundation for rock and roll music. He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, about 65 miles north of Farmington. Visit Chuck Berry to learn more about this music Hall of Fame personality. Visit Music & Games for more background of rock music and try the online resources (there's even a few games you can play!). We also asked our fellow students their thoughts about music, and you can read some of those here and on other pages as well. Have fun, learn about music, and rock on! |

I probably could not live without music. Music is very important to me and I enjoy listening to it.
